Kristen Rodes, Practice ManagerKristen Rodes, Practice Manager, Licensed Veterinary Technician

As our practice manager, Kristen's ability to be both resourceful and focused help her in successfully implementing her many job responsibilities. This includes managing the hospital's staff, marketing and promoting our public relations. She also organizes our yearly 5K "fun run".

Kristen has worked for Jones Bridge Animal Hospital since June, 1998. She earned her veterinary technician license in 2004 and worked as a technician until her appointment as practice manager. She values the high quality of care provided at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital. "I find it extremely rewarding to work for a hospital that strives to provide the best standard of medical care. Our staff members are sympathetic to client/patient needs and they enjoy building relationships and bonds with clients as well as with their team members," she said.

When she is not at the office, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters. Together they spend time outdoors, travel and attend UGA football games. Kristen, an active member at her local gym, also enjoys reading and caring for her lab mix Baker and three domestic shorthair cats, Weasley, Inky and Dexter.

Theresa Glover, Veterinary TechnicianTheresa Glover, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Theresa has been working at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital for 20 years. Her long background and experience with our hospital make her feel like family to many of our clients. In her position, Theresa cares for hospitalized patients, manages inventory, schedules appointments and monitors pets during surgery.

She thoroughly enjoys interacting with clients and educating them about proper pet care. "My strong core values allow me to form friendships with both clients and patients. I have empathy and sympathy for each pet and pet owner and I treat them as if they are friends of mine," she said.

Theresa has a degree in veterinary technology from Gwinnett Technical College.

Having begun her career with Jones Bridge Animal Hospital back in November of 1992, Theresa is uniquely qualified to comment on the hospital's growth and reputation. "Jones Bridge Animal Hospital puts both patient and client care first. We strive to exceed standards and expectations. With the clinic being in business for almost 20 years, many of our clients and patients have become like family and we have formed strong bonds with many of our clients," she said.

Theresa is the proud owner of 6 pets- 2 dogs, 3 cats and a cockatiel named "Skippy". Her hobbies include boating on the lake, camping several times throughout the year and taking day trips to Stone Mountain Park, Helen and BabyLand General.

Lauren Cole, Veterinary Technician Lauren Cole, Veterinary Technician

Lauren has been with Jones Bridge Animal Hospital since May 31, 2011. She has an associate's degree in human services and is currently attending North Georgia College and State University to earn her degree in psychology.

Teaching pet owners to better care for and protect their pets is Lauren's favorite part about her job. "Sometimes people may be knowledgeable in an area of care but are not quite sure how to apply it. I love to help them see creative ways to make their pets' lives more exciting and fun," she said.

Lauren's job responsibilities include monitoring the surgical recovery of animals, performing dental procedures on dogs and cats, educating clients on animal health and preventive care, tending to sick and injured pets, managing the inventory of clinic products and assisting doctors as needed.

The environment at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital makes Lauren feel like she is an extended family member. "I like working here because it is so easy to feel close to the staff and clients. I love that the clients know they can drop off their pets for the day (or longer) and feel safe that they will receive the best possible care. I also like the fact that we stay up-to-date with new technology that not only makes our work fun but also allows us to treat our patients with the best standards of care."

When away from the office, Lauren likes to take her border collie, Cali, down to the water and run. "We will go for runs down by the river and, at the end, Cali's "treat" is to take a nice swim," she said. Lauren also enjoys training Cali to do tricks and marvels at her 100% recall ability.

Aside from spending time with Cali and her domestic shorthair cat Spock, Lauren also enjoys kayaking, hiking, biking, going to festivals, computer games, and catching all the new movies.

Mallory McPherson, Veterinary Technician Mallory McPherson, Veterinary Technician

With her positive and optimistic attitude, Mallory is a natural with both pets and their owners. "I like being part of the relationship between pets and their people," she said. "You see the best in people when you watch their relationships with their animals. The unconditional love that I see makes every day special. I like creating real, lasting relationships with people and their pets,"

Mallory's responsibilities include discussing preventive health care with pet parents, assisting veterinarians with diagnostic procedures and surgeries, and helping owners provide the best care possible for their pets based on their individual needs. She earned her bachelor's degree in management and a certificate in psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Mallory has been working at our hospital since September, 2012.

For Mallory, working at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital offers her an opportunity to provide the best quality care for every pet and pet owner. "Every member of our team strives to provide the best experience for the patient. Everyone is also very supportive of each other and will help out whenever, wherever needed," she said.

In her spare time, Mallory enjoys spending her days with her husband, Jack, and her five dogs. She and Jack like to participate in Disney half marathons and vacation at the resort several times a year. They are both fans of Georgia Tech and enjoy cheering for the football team every season. Mallory also enjoys gardening, spending time outside with her dogs, snuggling with them in the evening and watching the History Channel.

Laura Schwerzel, Veterinary TechnicianLaura Schwerzel, Veterinary Technician

As our veterinary technician, Laura most enjoys getting to know our canine patients and watching them grow from puppyhood into adulthood. She joined our team in August 2013 and has a bachelor's degree in English from Clemson University. Laura is responsible for assisting in the care of our patients, monitoring our lodgers, and helping our veterinarians and other technicians in any way possible.

"The staff feels like one big family and we view many of our long-term clients as family, too," she says.

Laura has a hound mix named Sam and enjoys spending time with him, rock climbing, writing short stories, and playing guitar.

Shannon Wahl, ReceptionistShannon Wahl, Veterinary Technician

Shannon loves meeting new puppy patients and being able to see them grow before her eyes. With her bubbly personality, she eagerly greets each of our clients and develops relationships with them. She is currently majoring in veterinary technology at Gwinnett Technical College and joined our team in July 2013.

"When I first started I loved the atmosphere and all the smiles I got from clients and co-workers," she says. "I also loved the facility and how clean it is."

Shannon has two cats, a calico named Corah and a tabby named Yuki. She also has two dogs, a terrier mix named Lily and a Mastiff named Beau. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, reading, watching Netflix, and going to the gym with her sister and friends.

Rebecca Slight, Veterinary TechnicianRebecca Slight, Veterinary Technician

As one of our compassionate Veterinary Technicians here at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital, Rebecca Slight brings with her a calm and patient approach to the animal care we provide each day. She takes especially good care and precaution when she notices a patient is fearful or uncomfortable. What Rebecca loves doing the most while working with us is being able to spread love and compassion to all the sweet pets that come in to our facilities, particularly when she engages with puppies.

Some of the roles Rebecca is tasked with include providing personalized care to each and every one of our patients, assisting the veterinarians and other team members and much more! Rebecca is a graduate of Ohio State University who has been working in the animal related field since 2008. Before joining our team in February of 2017, Rebecca gather experience working as a Veterinary Assistant, and by working with large animals.

“This clinic has provided me with a second family and support system,” Rebecca proclaims. “This practice is full of caring people that made my move so much easier. It’s that same caring nature that allows us to provide specialized care for all patients.”

Rebecca owns a cat named Asgard. She loves watching college football and also thoroughly enjoys exploring the area of Atlanta with her friends. Any chance she can get Rebecca loves to spend time outdoors, especially in nice weather.

Sarah Gardner, Veterinary AssistantSarah Gardner, Veterinary Assistant

Sarah Gardner joined our incredible team here at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital in January of 2018 as one of our phenomenally talented Veterinary Assistants. Some of Sarah’s daily responsibilities include providing assistance to veterinarians and fellow staff members, caring for hospitalized patients, collecting samples for laboratory testing, and much more. The aspect of her job that Sarah finds most enjoyable is getting to know our clients and their pets and being able to help them be healthy and get through times of illness.

As a graduate of the University of Georgia Sarah possesses two degrees, one in Biology, and another in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Marine Science emphasis and a minor in Environmental Science. She has volunteered at the Georgia Aquarium, was an intern for the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program in San Diego, California, and volunteered as a puppy raiser throughout college.

“I like working at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital because everyone is family, including the clients and patients,” Sarah says. “I also enjoy the unpredictability of each day; the variety is quite exciting and engaging!”

At home, Sarah happily looks after pets. She owns a Black Labrador named Whitley, a Chow/Shepherd Mix named Molly, and her 5 fish. Sarah likes to travel, go scuba diving, practice crafting, and teaching her pets new tricks.
