"I cannot remember a time when I did not know that I wanted to be a veterinarian. It was all I ever wanted to be," said Dr. Hilton.
Her curiosity about medicine and biology as well as her connection with dogs, cats, and horses early in life motivated her to become a veterinarian. Growing up in Cookeville, Tennessee, Dr. Hilton often "doctored" her family dog, Lawyer, and cared for her Quarter horses, Susie, Bo, and Skipping East. Long-term treatment of Susie's hoof injury as well as breeding and raising Susie's foal serve as fond memories of Dr. Hilton's early animal experiences.
Dr. Hilton earned her undergraduate degree in animal science from Tennessee Technological University in 1979. She then received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1982. Dr. Hilton joined Jones Bridge Animal Hospital in August of 1995. When asked to choose which aspect of her career she enjoys most, Dr. Hilton responded, "I enjoy surgery, dentistry, and preventive wellness medicine the most, if I had to choose. Connecting with pets and their people is just icing on the cake."
Dr. Hilton is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Hilton enjoys spending time with her three daughters. They attend North Point Community Church in Alpharetta. She can often be found gardening, landscaping, and enjoying some time at the lake.
Much like when she was young, Dr. Hilton still cherishes horseback riding and strives to find time to go for a ride whenever she can. Oftentimes, Dr. Hilton is accompanied to the office with her 2-year-old golden retriever, Caden, who participates in the Furternity at the clinic. At home, her family also enjoys the affection of their four cats: Hobbs, Booger, Tristan, and Maverick.
