Working at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital during high school and college helped Dr. Emily Gordon realize that veterinary medicine would be a good career choice for her.
With her strong aptitude in science and her natural love for animals of all sizes, Dr. Gordon followed her passion into the veterinary field and has been rewarded with enhancing many pets' quality of life ever since. She received her bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of Georgia in 2008 and went on to attend veterinary school at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2012.
After graduation, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Brentwood, Tennessee from 2012-2013. "Completing my internship was a huge milestone in my career," she said. "It was a tough year but I learned so much and became a great deal more confident in my knowledge and abilities." Dr. Gordon joined our staff in June 2013. Nursing sick pets back to health is Dr. Gordon's favorite aspect of her job and she finds great gratification in knowing that she helps develop and strengthen the relationship between owners and their pets. "Helping enhance pets' quality of life as well as strengthening the human-animal bond is a great thing," she acknowledged. Dr. Gordon is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and her professional interests include wellness/preventive care and emergency medicine.
Dr. Gordon has a cat, Willy Nilly, who she adopted from JBAH after he was brought in as a kitten. In her spare time, Dr. Gordon enjoys running, hiking, wake surfing, UGA football, and spending time with her husband Adam and sons Thomas and Parker.
