Digital RadiologyDiagnostics

With more than 70 years of combined clinical experience among our staff members, Jones Bridge Animal Hospital is also equipped with the latest diagnostic technology ranging from in-house laboratory to high resolution ultrasound studies. Because of our clinical abilities and diagnostic equipment, we have been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association since 2002. This places us in the top tier of veterinary hospitals in the United States.

Digital Radiography

At Jones Bridge Animal Hospital, we use the latest in advanced computerized radiology as part of your pet's diagnostic care. (We also provide board certified radiologist consultations.)

Digital radiographs (x-rays) are extremely helpful for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions, such as examining your pet's bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity and other areas of the body. A digital x-ray can spot a fractured bone, detect tumors, help with the diagnosis of heartworm disease or locate an obstruction or foreign body in your pet's intestine or stomach. When used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures like ultrasound, digital x-rays can accurately diagnose problems, making treatment faster and easier for your pet and your veterinarian.

Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging that replaces traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally enhance images. Less radiation is also used to produce an image that is far superior than that produced by conventional radiography, while reducing the time needed to take images of your pet.

In addition, our digital radiography system allows us to transfer your pet's radiographs to a CD or send in an email, making it easy for you to keep them for your home records. They are also safer for the environment.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves to produce moving images inside your pet's body. This brief, invaluable procedure allows us to diagnose medical issues and treatment decisions for various types of medical conditions, including heart disease, the function and health of internal organs, identifying lesions and their origin, and whether illness may have spread to other areas of the body. Ultrasound is also a very powerful surgical aid; it can help guide your veterinarian while obtaining a biopsy or for a pregnancy check.

Lab Video Otoscopy

Chronic or recurrent otitis (ear infection) is a common and frustrating disease. At Jones Bridge Animal Hospital, we use a comprehensive approach to identify and manage all predisposing factors, primary causes, and perpetuating features in each case. Identifying the underlying cause is the key to successful therapy.

In pets with signs of otitis, video-otoscopy provides several important diagnostic and therapeutic advantages over traditional hand-held diagnostic and operating-head otoscopes. Moreover, video-otoscopy aids in record keeping and client education.

Laboratory Services

Jones Bridge Animal Hospital is equipped with a full service diagnostic lab that allows us to perform complete blood counts, chemistry profiles, electrolytes, urinalysis, fecal exams, cytology evaluations and other valuable tests. With our advanced laboratory, we have the ability to analyze how well your pet's internal organs and processes are functioning and can follow up on treatment therapy.

The diagnostic laboratory at Jones Bridge Animal Hospital allows us to provide you and your pet with quick and - most importantly - accurate results, which is essential to our emergent and critical care cases. We can often have results within 15 minutes for many tests.
